Mother Catherine Academy School News:

• MCA Spring Tea with My Doll & Me:  We are so very excited to announce that registration for the 2020 Spring Tea with My Doll & Me on Sunday April 26, 2020 from 1:00-3:30 PM is now open!  This event was a HUGE crowd pleaser for the past 2 years and we look forward to another fantastic event this year.  Seating is first come, first served.  Please check the Wednesday folder for Registration, Sponsorship, and Tablescape Decorating forms.  We have upped the ante this year and our goal is to make $20,000.00.  All proceeds from our Spring Tea will go towards purchasing new computers and providing our MCA students new technology.  Contact Denise Skotek at [email protected] if you are interested in assisting to plan this wonderful event for our whole community.

• MCA Grocery Auction – Thank You Thank you to everyone who volunteered and supported the Grocery Auction.  Our next Grocery Auction is scheduled for November 19, 2020. 

• MCA SHOE DRIVE: Mother Catherine Academy is holding a shoe drive. We will be collecting gently worn, used and new shoes that are in good condition, clean, and still wearable. The shoes we collect will be given a second life with those in need. Haiti, the most impoverished country in the Western Hemisphere is one of the countries that we will be supporting. Receptacles are in designated areas of the church or in the lobby at our school.

• SWEETHEARTS DANCE: MCA Sweetheart's Dance, February 8, 2020 at Bowles Farm in Clements. Chicken Dinner 6pm. dance 7pm-11pm music by The Wanderers. The cost is $30.00 a person. For tickets or questions please contact Kristie Norris 240-538-1135 or Ricky Mckinney 240-925-6101.

• MCA SANTA BINGO:  A holiday event for the children with many prizes from Santa Claus!  On Sunday, December 15^th the doors open at noon and lunch will be available for purchase in the kitchen from 12-1 p.m.  Admission is $5 per child.  Only children may play the games.

• MCA NEW YEARS EVE BINGO:  MCA will be hosting their annual New Years Eve Bingo on Tuesday, December 31^st with doors opening at 4:30 p.m., early birds 6:30 p.m. and regular games 7 p.m.  Guaranteed $2020.00 Jack Pot.  Reservations are being taken 301-884-3165. Admission is $20.

• Golf Tournament: Golf Tournament Reminder
  Our annual golf tournament is scheduled for September 27th at the Breton
  Bay Golf and Country Club. The Fundraising Committee is currently looking
  for sponsors and volunteers. Sponsors can be your family, workplace,
  family business, etc. All donations are tax deductible. We will also accept
  gift baskets and gift cards for raffles or door prizes. 

• Musical Instruments Needed:  MCA: Mother Catherine Academy is enjoying its fifth year as an independent Catholic School and its third year in offering band and strings to our students. As our program grows, we are in need of musical instruments. If you have any musical instruments you would like to donate, rent, or sell, please contact the school at 301 884 3165. Instruments that may need some repair work are welcomed as well. Thank you in supporting the MCA music program.

• Tabs to Keep Families Close
  The MCA Girl Scout troop 6756 is collecting aluminum beverage tabs for
  the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House keeps families
  together when their child needs medical care. Participating Chapters and
  Houses collect recycled beverage tabs so they can help give families with
  sick kids what they need most; each other. Please send all tabs to Jenna
  Spence in 4th grade.

• First Day of School for 2019-2020 School Year - Tuesday, August 27th (early dismissal day)

• MCA ANNUAL AUCTION & SOCIAL EVENT:  Guess what time it is?!!! Mother Catherine Academy auction time!!!  If you would like to donate gift cards, new or gently used items, artwork, event tickets (concerts, sporting events), handmade or homemade items, alcoholic beverages (bottle of liquor, wine or case of beer).  The Auction will take place on Friday, September 6^th, appetizers, open bar, full dinner, dessert dash, lots of fun with our silent and live auctions – this year’s theme is “Anchors Aweigh in the Chesapeake Bay”.  Any family who donates an item valued at $25 or greater will be entered in a drawing for a pair of free auction tickets ($150 value)  For more information you may contact Betsy Farrell at [email protected].

• MCA BINGO:  Mother Catherine Academy has Bingo every Saturday night.  Doors open at 5 p.m. Early Bird starts at 6:30 p.m. and regular games start at 7 p.m.

• MCA 2019-2020 ENROLLMENT: Enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year is now open! • Script Cards- Please consider purchasing Script cards for your everyday needs. We have cards for gas, groceries, clothing, and food. MCA receives a percentage of the value of each card sold. Please contact the school for more information.

• BOOST SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO ATTEND CATHOLIC SCHOOLS:  Have you ever considered a Catholic school education but can’t afford the tuition?  Your child may be eligible for a scholarship as part of BOOST (Broadening Options and Opportunities for Students Today), a Maryland state program providing scholarships for low-income elementary and high school students. To be eligible for the scholarship, your family must meet certain household income guidelines.
